Maps

For inquiry I had to use the Waka places that I researched about and find where they settled in google maps. The Kurahaupo waka went to Takapau Kura. The Takitimu waka went Te Awanui, Tauranga Moana, Waiapu River, Uawa, Turanganui, Mahia Peninsula, Te Wairoa, Mohaka River, Porangahau and Te Waewae bay. The Mataatua waka went to Takou Bay and Whakatane. The Tainui waka went to Whangaparaoa, Tauranga, Tamaki River, Te Haukapua, Whangaparaoa, Manukau Harbour,  Whaingaroa, Te Ahurei and Mokau. The Te Arawa waka went to Rotorua and Tongariro. The Aotea waka went to Kaipara Harbour and Hawaiki -iti. The Tokumaru waka went to Tongaporutu River. The Horouta waka went to Turanganui. The Uruao waka went to Whakatu, Kaikoura and Horomaka.

Splitting numbers

I had to split number and add it to the other number. For example, I took four from the seven then I add the four to the fifty six and it makes sixty. Then I add 3 to the sixty  it makes sixty three. What is a tidy number. A tidy number is a number that is fast to add. Like all the ten.

Comment thread.

Basic facts challenges

L.I To remeber basic facts

I did my basic facts boxes. I did the speed up to 10. I got no answers wrong and my time was 9 minutes and 17 seconds. I will go faster next time.

Complex Sentences

For this activity I made an DLO called complex sentence. How to make a complex sentence is to use a simple sentence and add an AAWWUUBBIS in the middle. The AAWWUUBBIS words are after, although, as, while, when, until, before, because, if, since. If you change it to the other way it will sound correct. To find more infomation to make a complex sentence look at my slide that I made.

Skimming and Scanning

LI: To find specific facts by scanning.
LI: To find general information by skimming.

Scanning means looking for keywords to find the information you need.
Skimming means read topic sentences to get a basic idea of a book or text.

We had a book and there is questions for us. We have to scan or skim to find the correct information. The book is called Bright Fine Gold and it is about people coming to NZ to mine for gold. There was more questions we had to anwser.

Compound sentences.

Compound sentences are made up of two ideas combined with a 'FANBOY' or 'Conjunction'. A simple sentence is made up of one idea, but simple sentences don't require to be short. First, we started with trying to make simple sentences with pictures by having one sentence and one idea, another sentence with another idea and then joining them up by choosing a conjunction.
LI: to write meaningful and interesting COMPOUND sentences.

Rippa rugby

Rippa rugby is a sport were we put two tags on our waists and the other team has to try and rip the rippas from the opponents. If you manage to do that then the person who got tagged has to pass the rugby ball to another person from their team. If your team gets tagged 5 times, it is a hand over and you have to give the ball to the other team. Its also a hand over if your off-side, out and knock-on.

For Rippa Rugby we had a warm up for our game. The warm up was one person run's with the ball to the blue cone and pass to the other person 2 times then run to some other cones and zig zag thro all the cones go around the flag then run back then pass the ball to the next person.

Then we played the real game. if you get a red tag you go to Ice if you are Green tag you go to
oane. But ther is also no defending or steping if you also rip someons tag of they tap
and pass to someone else in there team. If you foward pass you pass the ball to the other
team, if it's a knock on you tap and pass.

My Thinkboards

LI. to practice my basic addition

This week we had four rotation one was we had to count on with an abacus. second we had to research the shapes that we said. next we had to make a team Logo using shapes. This task we had to do think boards. For think boards we had to do a number line, a story problem, basic addition and story problems the equation was 38 + 50 = ? I knew that 5 + 3 = 8 so  38 + 50 = 88.

Ripper rugby

L.I: To have fun with Rippa Rugby
This week we did Rippa Rugby. First we did drills to warm us up. What we did was we get in to group and the person in front has the ball and they have to pass the ball back to the other person. When catching we had to make a W shape and catch the ball. After that the last person will have to throw to the other person on the opposite side and do the same thing back. After that we played Rippa rugby. We tried our best but we ended up in a draw. I had fun and I would like to play again.

Explores and Adventures

Explores and Adventures are people who travel and discover new things.

Explores are people who travel to find new things and record them for the comuniity such as Captain James Cook because he is knowledgeable for nowing where he is going.

Adventures are people who traveling to take part in something for themselves such as Sir Edmund Hillary he is open mineded because willing to consider new ideas with other people.

Explores and Adventures need to have or show many different attitudes and attributes such as Sir Peter Blake because he was confident about traveling.

Both explores and adventures need to have or show many different altough their goals are different.

Simple sentences

This week we learnt what a simple sentence was. First we watched a video which explained what a simple sentence is. Next our group had to record mixed up sentences. Then we had to write 5 of our own simple sentences. I created a mixed up simple sentence slide for others to use. I looked forward to others using my simple sentences.

Counting on

Today in class we did maths equations. Then we made our own equation on a slide and added a story problem where
we had to explain how we solved it. I also did a practise of answering the questions on the right side.

Key words

L.I to use Keyword to search for information about Marco Polo.

Key words are words that help to research speific information about a chosen topic. They can also give appropriate information to young learners.

Key words are for narrowing down rthe information gained by an internet search.

Key words can be used to find information that is understanding and reliable by children.

Key words are useful tools that should be used in every search.
