Multiplication word problem

For math I did multiplication word problems.

First I learnt to figure out the group sizes.

Then I learnt to figure out how many groups there are.

After I learnt to find out the group size and groups. I then wrote the number sentence. For example 3x9=27

Lastly I had to write the answer in a word sentence.

Metaphor

Metaphor is a comparison of two things with a similar quality by saying one object is the other.

An example for a metaphor is the boy is a thorn in my side. The object is the boy. The comparison is the thorn. The meaning is that someone is very annoying

Another example for a metaphor is the girl has a heart of a lion. The object is the girl. The comparison is the heart. The meaning is that the boy is courageous

By using metaphors, people can describe things like food, feelings, sound, colour, and more. Metaphors identify a comparison.

8 times table

LI: to learn the times tables

Multiplication is an easier way to add the same number many times. For example: 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6
8x6=48

This slide shows the 8 times tables.

Identifying multiplication

Multiplication is an easy way to count a lot of the same number.
To identify multiplication word problem follow these steps.

1.  First look for the group size as in how many things there are in the group.

2. Mealanie worked 3 hours at work for 5 days. 3 is the group size.

3. Melanie worked 3 hours for 5 days. 5 is the number of groups.

T-Chart | WIP

This week we found pros and cons of food storage containers by using T-charts and the reciprocal reading process.

First my group and I chose a container to read about. We read the text and simmarised the information to get and idea of what the contanier was used for.

After reading the text we found the pros and cons of the container using a T-chart. We also used images to talk about ehat challenges were and what we needed for this challenge.

Then we repeated the process that again on diffrent containers.

This is a WIP (work in progress) that will be finished next week.

4 times table

Swimming

Today for swimming we went to the Lagoon pools.

The first skill I learnt was steamline kicking. First I put my arms in the air my arms have to be at the back of my ear so it looks like a 'v'. Then I lie on my tummy and kick. I have to make sure my head is in the water. Also my legs have to be straight when I'm.

The second skill I learnt was backstroke kicking. First I hold the kick board on my lap above my knees. Then I lie on my back my legs have to be straight when i'm kicking. I need to remember to keep my face in the water.

The third skill I learnt was dolphin dive. First I lie on my tummy. Then I lifted my bum up and dive in the water.

Similes

Similes are comparison of two things using “like” or “as … as”.

The "like" similes use verbs.  For example, 'Act like an animal' and 'Soar like an eagle'.

The "as" similes use adjectives.  For example, 'as blind as a bat' and 'as flat as a pancake'.

To see a example of similes look on this slide below.
