Optical Illusion DLO

I was doing a illusion template that we had to make by our self.

It was weird try hard to think of and illusion but it was fun because I got to do  2 and the ones I did was a triangle and a square.

It was challenging building these because I had to zoom in and get it in perfect shape.

What are you doing today?

Today we did the what are you doing to day task It is about Te Reo Maori.

The first one was Kei te aha i tēnei koe.

The next one was a custom one where you chose a word to go with Kei te haere au ki te then I chose my own word which was toa, toa mean shops.

This task was hard because I didn't know what some words were.

Kowhaiwhai Pattern

Today I was doing the Kowhaiwhai Template.  I made upside down waves and turned it to make a  wave. I changed the background to  orange and blue to represent summer. And this is the making of my art.

I liked this task but it was challenging thinking how to build it.

Insect art

Today I was doing the insect art.

You have to go outside and find some flowers leaves twigs and thick long strip on grass. I was doing a butterfly it was hard building it because I didn't know what order to put it in.

Eventually I found a way to make it look like a butterfly. To make it look like a butterfly you need to put the leaves on the twig and a long piece of grass on they end and 2 flowers on the front of the twig.

Summer learning journey comment thread.

This week I was commenting on Daeyna blog on her first summer learning journey with LS2.

For the second activity of the first week of the Summer Learning Journey, we learnt about how to make a quality blog comment and how it can help us win by giving us bonus points.

To do comment thread you need to comment on some ones blog but ask a question on what you like about, then they reply to your comment and ansewer the question. After you give them feedbqck on what they should right next time.

Kick Start Literacy - Fishing False Teeth

Today I was doing the Fishing false teeth activity.

We watched a video and imagine what they were saying. Then we went on a slide and write little texts on what they were saying to each other.

This text was about a guy sneezing and his teeth fell in the water and his mate caught a fish and put his teeth in it and said it your teeth. So the other guy took they and put them in his mouth.

I liked this activity but I thought it would be about a fish eating false teeth.

Nano girl scavenger hunt

This week we were doing the Nano girl scavenger hunt. We looked around the class to find the materials.

We needed scissors, Aluminium foil and cans, egg carton, ruler, thin cardboard box and paper.

Then we made a screencastify on everything we needed and did.

Speech

We presented our inquiry presentation to the teachers the teachers are, Mr Wong & Mr Ogilvie.

Before presenting our inquiry, we practised our script and timed how long the whole presentation would take us. The presentation expectation was to be within 2 and 3 minutes.

The feedback that we got was to not write a recount on what we worked on together, but instead talk about the main points of the activity.

It was challenging to say the speech but i'd like to do this again

Inquiry | shelter materials

This week we were doing our Resource requisition, shelter materials.

First we figured out what materials we needed to make our shelter outside ls1. We thought of Wool, Plaster, Clay bricks and Aluminum cans. The cans hold up our roof so it won’t collapse the clay bricks to make our shelter wool take a while to burn so my group and I chose wool.

Then the layers of the structure had clay on the outside layer, aluminium cans on the inside layer, the wool will be on the inside of the aluminium cans and the plaster of paris is to hold the materials together.

After my group and I corrected our shelter materials and model with Mr Wong we finished and got our materials.

Not most materials can protect against natural disasters.

Kapa Haka

This week we watched a performance by a Kapa Haka group.

First they did a special ceremony to welcome us.

Then they used this special shell. It's to warn there tribe that people are near by.

Next they told us about the poi and taiaha. The taiaha is to frighten of the enemy. The poi is for dancing or performing.

After we played Matau and Maui. Matau means you go right Maui means you go left.

I enjoyed this performance i'd like to see it again because it scared me.

Two man and Three man settles

We carried on with two man settles and three man settles from the last week.

First we practised two and three man settle to get ready for a touch game. Coach mark told us to aim for one person when we drive the ball down the field.

Next we played a game of touch. The game was for learning how to play and how to use a two and three man settle

I thought touch rugby was good because  Hector Josh and I did well with the three man settles. I need to practice the two man settle more often.

Fractions

For Maths I learnt about fractions the fractions I learnt was Quarters and Eighths.

My group and I needed scissors, vivid and 2 cups.

The first fraction I learnt was quarter. We had to draw a straight line going up the cup. And then cut straight through it then we had to draw another line on both of them and cut it and that made quarters.

The Last one I did was eights. I cut one whole cup into eight pieces. First we drew a line and cut into halves. Next we had to draw another line and then cut it into quarters. Lastly we had to draw one more line and cut it into eights.

Lastly I took a photo and put the photos on the slide.

The Twits is a fiction book written by Roald Dahl. In chapters 20-23 it tells how the monkeys escape and plot revenge for the Twits.

When Mr Twit walked outside he realized that there are no birds on the tree and cage because they were all on the roof. Mrs Twit didn't want Mr Twit putting glue on their roof so they decided to buy some guns because Mr Twit really wanted bird pie.

When Mr and Mrs Twits left to go buy guns, the monkeys hopped back on their feet and asked the Roly-Poly-bird to get them the key for the cage. The Roly-Poly-bird asked wheres the key the monkeys told it's in the work shop hanging on a nail.

This week for SSR Selfie I have read this book about Amulet. This is a fiction book (a made up story).

First I wrote the author of the book and the illustrator of this book, I wrote 3 facts about this book, wrote what I thought of the book was about.

I enjoyed reading this book because I liked the part where Emily meat Roni and Loni

LI. To summarise a text.

Screenplay/script writing

Screenplays are scripts that are converted into speeches and actions only.

The actors line is center aligned under their name. The lines don't need speech marks because it tells by their name at the top on what there saying.

A screenplay scene number and the word scene should be in all caps and where it was. The person name you writing about should be in caps and centered aligned.

It is important to understand how to write screenplay so the actors understand what to do.

Novel Study | reading

From the chapters 12-15 of the Roald Dahl book The Twits, it tells how Mr Twit's prank backfires and what their house and backyard looks like.

Mr Twit was waiting for birds to sit on the tree so he can have bird pie. While Mr Twit is waiting the monkeys are trying to warn the birds so they don't get cooked. The problem was the birds couldn't understand them because the monkeys speak a different language.

The monkeys thought the birds are going to get eaten and that's when they saw their friend the Roly-Poly bird flew down. The monkeys asked him if he can warn the birds so the Roly-Poly bird went around warning the birds. When Mr Twit cam out he saw all the birds were on the monkey cage instead of the tree.

Before we watched the show the actors introduced them selves. Then we sang the Duffy song. Then the actors preformed for us.

Lastly the Duffy group held a question and answer session.

I thought the Duffy song was my favorite because I haven't sang this song in a long time.

Novel Study | reading

From the chapter 12-15 a Roald Dahl book it tells how Mr Twit's prank backfires and what their house and backyard looks like.

Mr Twit thought his prank would go well but it didn't. Mrs Twit decided to chew through the balloon strings so she would float down. This solution worked but when she landed she was fuming at Mr Twit because of his prank.

Mr and Mrs Twit have a horrible house. When they built it they agreed to have no windows on this silly house. With the old looking garden it makes there house look silly that why there called the twits.

I like this book because the way they act and play pranks on each other. I also think more people should read this book.

Kiwi sport

This week for Touch rugby we did planting the ball.

To plant the ball I need to put my hand out then I put the ball on the ground and step over the ball and the dummy has to pick up the ball.

Then we played a game, Bibs versus non bibs. If I don't have a ball I have to go tag a bib person who has a ball then they have to plant the ball. The score for the bibs was 2 and the score for the non bibs was 1.

The next game we did was attacking and defending we did 1 on 1. I went with the girls so it would be even. The defender had to touch the person that was trying to score a goal.

I like this skill because if the junior don't know this skill I can teach them.

Division story problems

How to solve division by following these steps:

1. You have to write how many objects you have.

2. You have to write who your sharing it with.

3. Next you write how many you and that person have.

4. Lastly you have to write the algorithm. For example: 20 ÷ 2 = 10.

For example: I have 20 sandwiches. I divided them between myself and Chisa. We each got 10 sandwiches. 20 ÷ 2 = 10

Maths Word problems

L.I to solve a multiplication word problems with a factor greater than 10.

To solve a maths problem that is outside of the times tables, there are 6 steps to follow. The first step is to write a number sentemce.

Then you have to break up the bigger number. For example 13 = 10 + 6.

The third step is multiply the smaller number. For example: 10 x 3=30 6 x 4=24

The fifth step is to write the number sentence but you have to write it with the answer. For example: 30+26= 56.
The final step is to write the number sentence but write it like a word problem. For example: Rahcel's mother gave her 56 lollies in all.

Inquiry | Risk Assessment

First my group wrote what a risk and a hazard is. A risk is a possiblity that a hazard can cause harm to people. A hazard is an object tha can cause harm to property, enviorment, And to other people.

Then we recapped about the risk levels wich are low, likely, possible, elevated, and extreme. Then we did a saftey plan called risk assessment.

For the next task my group and I wrote the class level, how many studens, how many helpers, and the location.

Every 10 students equal's one helper. Then my group and I answered questions like: what could go wrong, how could you prevent it, and what could it cause to go wrong.

The last one we wrote an emergency plan wich is a risk that overcomes a serious situation.

Narritive | The Gruffalo

A re-write story is changing parts of the story but it stays as the same storyline.

There are three guiding questions and they are where do they live? What the gruffalos favorite food is, and the location.

I changed the fox into a wolf because wolfs and foxs are kind of the same.

Next I changed the under ground house into a under ground cave.

Lastly I changed the gruffalos favorite food from roasted fox to wolf ribs.

Making connections

L.I to identify and describe connections

Connections have a similar idea of something else. There are three main connections they are text to self, text to text, text to world.

Text to self this is where people connect the text to there own experiences.

Text to text connections are when people compare the text they are reading to other similar texts. These texts could be book or visual texts such as a movie or TV programme.

Text to world is when people connect what they are reading to things that really happens in the outside world.

Connections help the reader to understand what the book is about.

Metaphor is a comparison of two things with a similar quality by saying one object is the other.

An example for a metaphor is the boy is a thorn in my side. The object is the boy. The comparison is the thorn. The meaning is that someone is very annoying

Another example for a metaphor is the girl has a heart of a lion. The object is the girl. The comparison is the heart. The meaning is that the boy is courageous

Measurement-Weight

Weight is how heavy an object or item is. The standard forms of measuring weight are tonnes (T), kilograms (kg) and grams (g). To measure these things, people often use scales or balance scale's.

Estimating is an educated guess to the amount of something. If a person knows that the weight of a stick is 3 markers, then they can compare the markers on a scale. If they know the weight of the markers then they can make an estimation.

To convert kilograms to tonnes, divide the number by one thousand. To convert grams to kilograms divide by one thousand. If the measurement is 18 kg, then divide by one thousand the numbers shift to right.

LI: To explore standard forms of weight.
